As the year 2008 is coming to an end, it's time to think about summerjobs again. Damn what a stress.. I hope all of us get a job in the photographing biznazz and will bring you the WORK blog in full effect again!

LAPIN YLIOPPILASLEHTI: Elections. 15 Oct 2008 Posted by Leinonen.

Regional elections are closing in so the university paper had to be about the election. I shot five canditates at a political gathering, under available artificial light. Of course the people want to look their very best, you know how election portraits always are. Heads smiling. I tried to get away from headshots and maybe introduce something more visual from the surroundings.

RED BULLETIN F1: F1 in cinema. 28 Sep 2008 Posted by Leinonen.

Two weeks ago I was assigned by the UK based Redbulletin F1 magazine to cover finnish formulafans watching the Monza grand prix at the Oulu Finnkino cinema.

Technically it was a very hard job to pull off, luckily the great staff at Finnkino kept the dim lights on for a while so I got the job done (technically I was still going on the edge of cutting edge technology).

The crowd wasn't big but it is what it is and that's always enough. You work with what you have and try to make the best of it.

LAPIN YLIOPPILASLEHTI: Fuksiaiset, Freshman shower, or whatever. 22 Sep 2008 Posted by Leinonen.

This was my second time shooting the freshman activities in Rovaniemi. Last year I was sick but still did it, and I was sick this year too. Bad luck bang bang.

If someone of you don't know what this event is, it's basically just university freshmen going from spot to spot and drinking, and in the end acting like asses (maybe).

Working for the school paper is cool, you get to throw out ideas and you get a little money from it. Too bad we don't have enough people writing for it, and people don't seem too inspired to work and don't put their effort in because "it's just a school paper" and blah blah. Always try your best, because nobody gives a shit about a half-asser. DAMN!

Director Sini Hirvi peeling potatoes. The mothers who come to the home get food, shelter and help with their problems with drugs and other addictions.

Suvi Vintturi, another director organizing the patient files. Firsthome Iida is one of the few homes that allow fathers to live with the mothers and the babies.

Scenes from the rehearsals for the new "Kokkola" play at the Kokkola citytheater. Too bad I didn't have time to go see it, since it opened after I had left town. Seemed like a great show!
