This is Petri Uutela version 2, The meaner version. But that's not important, what is really important is that this picture has been finished with my brand new 21" Samsung LCD screen, and let me tell you this baby is more beautiful than any of the children I'll ever have. The widescreen resolution of 1680x1050 far surpasses every satisfactory feeling one might feel in life. This is better than buying a pizza and getting more money in change than you originally paid. This is utterly jaw droppingly cool.
After the F100 body, this piece of godlike manufacturing and engineering quality makes my life finally perfect. Everything is great at home, love is great, I've got my health in check, money enough to feed myself and looks to kill.
However I'm still unemployed for the summer, so if you're running a magazine or newspaper, feel free to give me a job as a photographer. Give the kid a chance.

I sent a photo to Kameralehti's (the biggest photo related magazine in Finland) annual competition. I was sure I had the winning shot with this portrait of my father, little did I know that couple of days ago everything I believed in would be crushed. The photo wasn't even mentioned in the competition article. I've cried for days, looked at this image through a drunken haze, still unable to understand why they didn't love it. I was so sure.
I'm left alone, naked, with no direction where to go with my photography. I have no idea what kind of pictures won, because I got the news from a friend and after that I just collapsed. The needle in my artistic compass is spinning wild. I have no grip to life itself.
What do you think? Is there any point to go on, after such a hard blow? :D

I just came back from Norway, Tromso filmfestival that is. I didn't see any movies, but I did see some high speed ice skating motherlovers, and I did go to burger king. And it was beautiful. So I win. Though I don't think 20 hours in a bus is worth a shitty burger king meal and some mountains.
About this picture: Nothing. It just looks cool and you love it that way, don't you?

Visiting my father's childhood home, or whats left of it we found a old sauna building and these suits hanging there. They have been there for about 20 years, day and night. Very eerie.

I'm shooting for a little story on feet, so I'm constantly scoping out for legs and feet in interesting places or positions. I saw this pair of feet in Helsinki, but failed to make a good photo, I just snapped it walking past. Lazy ass mofo. And you can't even see the legs!

Melting the new year's tin, is that a universal tradition or just a finnish thing? Anyway you melt it, and throw it in cold water and check out what the year is going to bring from the shape of the tin. Go figure.
