Dancing at stages is a finnish tradition, often related with drinking and romantic matters. However some people today travel hours to a venue to dance four hours straight and go to work 9 AM next morning. I went to see a typical weekday dance at Pyhäsalmi, one of the most popular stages in the region. The setting was like the classic finnish movies, but the dancing wasn't. On weekdays dances are usually women's pick, which can lead to rather furious hunt for a dance partner since men are low in numbers compared to women.
