| Ranua, not much. 20 Nov 2007 Posted by Jussi Leinonen. |
![]() I shot some pictures for an article on Ranua in the new Lapin ylioppilaslehti. Some of the pictures are from my earlier visit to Ranua zoo, luckily I had some frames of the bears because the weather on the actual visit was so bad that the animals literally were hiding from both the weather and my camera. Not that it wouldn't be interesting angle at it, but the story didn't work with that. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| A brief update. 12 Nov 2007 Posted by Petri Uutela. |
Sorry for not posting into our blog lately, but I have been very busy...lot's of school related stuff and I have spent most of my free time in the darkroom doing prints...still a huge pile of negs to work with. Here is a capture from a couple of years back, a winter image from Rovaniemi. This is a style I am getting sort of interested again; shooting images with no people in them. ![]() |

| Still no snow, well maybe today.. 04 Nov 2007 Posted by Jussi Leinonen. |
![]() I live in Lapland, Finland and we still get real winter here. You know that -25 celcius shit that'll make your balls dive back into your belly, yeah we got it. A 'pussy' drawing on some frost is a sure sign of winter, when you see this, you better get your long johns on. Hrrr. |

| A leftover... 03 Nov 2007 Posted by Petri Uutela. |
I still don't have anything special to write about, sorry about that, but I wanted to post something...so here is a leftover image from a school assigment I mentioned earlier (the street project from Helsinki). One of those non-posed situations. Even if Helsinki is the biggest city in Finland I did most of the actual shooting in very small area, 95% of the images was shot within maybe 300 meter radius. I believe I took 50% of the images in front of the Stockmann mall, including this image. ![]() |

| Street portraits. 27 Oct 2007 Posted by Petri Uutela. |
Recently I had this street photography school project where I took those traditional street photos where you don't ask permissions, you just shoot and move on. Well, I combined that with the other style; you ask if you can take the photo. I believe I did a fine job in it and managed to capture couple of nice group shots as well...well if you can call it a group if there's two persons in the photo. I'll show you some of those images later next week.![]() This image is from my first 6x7 roll ever, shot maybe a month ago. I don't know the person here, I just saw her walking in the streets and asked if I could take her photo. Sorry my poorer than normal english today, I can't find the words today. Maybe it's because of those fumes in the darkroom that caused this...I have been toning my prints today... for about 5 hours... EDIT: Later yesterday when Jussi saw this post he told me that this image is not my style at all. I don't want to use the word he used how he described this but he didn't like this one. But hey, I agree. This is not my style in so many ways...composition, colors, posing, smile etc.....and I used a camera I never use (Mamiya RZ) and I used tripod as well. Normally I never use a tripod in any shooting. So yes, Jussi was right - this definitely is not my style. But those portraits I mentioned in the beginning of this post, they are not this style. |
