   Last sunday was the 134th national day of Burmese Karen people. About one hundred of Karens from around Finland had arrived to Kokkola for the celebration and a week of summer camping. It was an important part of the week to remind youngsters about old traditions and habits. |

  Right before starting my summer job in Pohjolan Sanomat, I got a call from Suomen Kuvalehti magazine and I was offered to do a gig for them. It was a story about MTK's new chairman, Mr. Juha Marttila. The story ran with 8 pages (5 pictures). Even if I had to shoot the thing with a small sensor digital body (a camera that I dislike from the bottom of my heart), I was definitely surprised with the end result. I even fooled Leinonen, because he didn't realize that I used flash in few pictures, haha... After this gig, I made the expensive move and acquired the gear that I need... FX baby... Finally, I have a camera that is not limiting my photographic visions. PS: I think I will sell my M6 and 35mm Summicron as well... If interested, dial 555-FX-4EVA (in other words, e-mail me). |

National Railway company here in Finland went on strike last monday, resulting in canceled trains and changing chedules for travelers. Robert Forstström and Anniina Kemppainen missed one day together because she had to leave one day earlier for her trip to Portugal.      Loyal Arrow NATO exercise was held week ago in Luleå, Sweden. Finland also participated in the exercise. Finland and Sweden are not part of NATO. |

 Usually on the midsummer day, police is quite busy.  Water and other liquids are essential parts of enjoying midsummer.  Gathering around friends or family and eating way too much sausages is most important. If weather allows, some kind of (bon-)fire is nice too. |

 Tonight is the midsummer in Finland. This means that after this days get shorter. Right now if it's clear weather you can see the sun 24/7. But now it's cloudy and weather has been really cold. yesterday it was +12 celsius in Kemi...as you can see, my father is not dressed in summer clothing. Hyvää jussia. |

 Last year's tervaporvari Harri Natunen is about to introduce Eino Laukka as the man for the job this year. Tervaporvari is someone who has been succesful in the economic growth in the area. I shot the same event last summer. |
